My obsession with patterns in life has reached a degree of intensity that is debilitating sometimes. I can get so obsessed with the observation of patterns that their meaning becomes obfuscated. I just reduce them down to what has just happened, is happening and what is about to happen.
This 3 stage relationship can be in second intervals or 5 min or 1 week and on and on. The shorter ones usually are more powerful in their interestingness. Having the here and now usually deals more directly with your current existence. Mostly in my opinion because human evolution guided our genetics towards this direction of attention.
An interesting exercise is to start back testing your days if you can and at the end of your day, use your mind and go back through your day and recollect all the decisions and actions you took. Try and find the relationship between all of the separate things to each other and how the flow of your day was created out of that. Once you get a little good at this, to a point where you can begin to see how each day has a distinct pattern that develops out of your first decision and action into all the others until you fall asleep. Once you’re good at this start to not only look at your current day this way, but the day prior and prior to that and all the relationships between them all. As if the days were representative of the single action/decisions you would take during a single day and it seems they all flow into and out of each other setting up everything that follows to a certain degree.
You as the observer of your own story begin to notice a pattern emerging. When this happens and it will, contemplate on what that means. The fact that you have an actual pattern in of itself is, I think incredible. You will begin to think about how the pattern of the previous day, influences and directs the general outcome fo the next day, repeatedly. Eventually if you get good enough, you may be able to predict the general outcome of the next day and so on and so on. When you think about what all of this means a number of conclusions could be reached.
Rudolf Steiner is the actually the guy who first described this process to me through his writings and work in the book “Attainment of higher worlds”. I just explaining my version of it.
One is you begin to ? how many decisions are actual decisions, rather than just the next step of the current unfolding pattern fo the day/week/etc…
How much of your personal pattern is being influenced by other peoples patterns as well as the patterns of the environment around you, stop lights, the clock, weather, culture, societal momentum…
Before realizing any of this did you have an real control over your life direction? How much control can you exert over these patterns, personal and otherwise?
Why is this important to consider?
If you could, then what does this mean for your existence?
Once you begin to understand some of this, can you now predict your future? Could you change it?
Along with this idea comes a companion idea. In your current unfolding pattern, there exists a version of you. This version is everything you were born with genetically plus everything that has happened to you, plus every action you have ever taken consciously or unconsciously, all combined into your current state of existence.
Considering this, you can begin to develop a general picture fo what you and your life is going to look like in the near future. This becomes more true the more you actually spend the time to observer your daily pattern and its relations to how your life’s story is unfolding. If you actually did decide to take the time to perform this exercise, you will get relatively good at observing your own L patterns (L=life).
Now and if you are actually somewhat good at this, you will see what version of yourself your are currently participating in being, allowing, creating. I feel an understanding for how that version of you was created, why and how it exists will manifest naturally. Now what would be the point of working to develop this ability to achieve and retrieve all this unusual data, if not to use it creatively to your own direct conscious benefit.
Now that you have an understanding of what version you currently exist as you can play around with the possibility of other scenarios in which alternate versions of you exist. Better versions and worse versions. Place in your minds eye a better version of yourself, what they look like, how they act, the decisions they make, what they do, how they got there etc.. Now with this same creativity, use it to walk back through the existence of this alternate version of you. See what that pattern looks like. If you want to be this alternate version find the pattern that exists or could exists that would lead to this better version.
None of this shit is just random. I have spent intense and significant amounts of time/energy observing patterns in life. There is a definite order in what appears to be apparent chaos.
To believe this is too understand how the power of change actually manifests.
It comes through illumination on the trajectory of existence. That is what patterns tell you, the direction in which things, events, culture, history, yourself is moving. What the current version is and basically what the end version probably will end up being.
Understanding this allows you to shift the direction of all of this, more so for your own personal life and versions, less so for the larger whole.
But one person can still be a trim tab that causes the larger rudder of life to shift it’s direction over time.
So all that being said if you know what version you would like to be of yourself, then just figure out what that version is entirely and work on figuring out how that pattern looks and what kind of shifts in your current pattern need to be done to connect you to the outcome of that other better version.
Our world and all of us, are all versions of the current pattern we are existing in. Change is only available to you once you know this and then once you discover what more than likely leads to that other version.
Even if it doesn’t exactly work out the way you imagined it, you can always keep on observing and making adjustments, until you are the version of U that fits your desire.
If not, then I guess you can keep on letting life just happen to you and around you, drifting in your life boat seeing where you end up.
